Joint Pain Products:

We know how difficult it can be to walk into a store looking for the best brand of joint pain products to purchase.  We also know if you go to your local Wal-Mart you will find this product for much cheaper, however BEWARE!  Many joint pain products include one or two ingredients whereas the products we will show you contain much more.

Comparision shoppers MUST compare total ingredients instead of compairing apples to oranges.

As with any form of supplementation, please allow up to 6 weeks for your joint pain products to take affect.  Realize you are trying to treat arthritis symptoms, you are going after the root source of your joint pain.

Common ingredients

Glucosamine  Glucosamine stimulates the synthesis of cartilage proteoglycans. These compounds give cartilage flexibility and the ability to resist compression and impact. Injured joints have a greater demand for proteoglycans, as well as collagen  1500 milligrams daily

Chondroitin occurs naturally in the body. It is a major component of cartilage -- the tough, connective tissue that cushions the joints. Chondroitin helps to keep cartilage resilient by absorbing fluid (particularly water) into the connective tissue. It provides the building blocks needed for cartilage to repair itself.

Although some improvement may be experienced sooner, the full effectiveness of chondroitin generally begins after 2 to 4 months of use.

MSM (Methylsulphonylmethane) is an important source of sulphur, and improves joint function and relieves the pain of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Sulphur concentration in the cartilage of arthritis patients has been found to be one third that of normal cartilage.

Devil’s claw contains compounds known as iridoid glucosides, which influence inflammation mediators in the body (prostaglandins and eicosanoids such as thromboxanes and leucotrienes). Reducing the synthesis of the inflammatory compounds, reduces both pain and inflammation.

Bromelain (found in pineapples) blocks the production of compounds that can cause swelling and pain. Also it breaks down blood-clotting proteins that can impede good circulation and prevent tissues from draining properly.  Bromelain is not only an effective anti-inflammatory pain reliever, it dramatically increases the absorption of glucosamine (up to 90%) and sulfur (MSM/50%).

Boswellia works as an anti-inflammatory but is gentle to your stomach without the irritation or ulceration that can occur with traditional medications. It deters inflammatory white cells from infiltrating damaged tissue and improves blood flow to the joints.

It's effect helps osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and back pain by reducing joint inflammation, morning stiffness and increase mobility.

Boron has been found in studies to have a direct correlation between low dietary boron and the incidence of osteoarthritis.  Needless to say, the average person in the US does not get enough boron in their diet.

Boron is important element in several body processes especially macromineral metabolism, cell membrane function and calcium utilization.

Boron has a synergistic effect assisting the body's utilization of many other ingredients listed here.

Calcium is essential to maintaining total body health. Your body needs it every day not just to keep your bones and teeth strong over your lifetime, but to ensure proper functioning of muscles and nerves. It even helps your blood clot. 1,000 to 1,300 milligrams daily

Most Americans think they are getting enough calcium everyday, but, the fact is, they are not - they're calcium deficient. Calcium deficiency is usually due to an inadequate intake of calcium. When blood calcium levels drop too low, the vital mineral is "borrowed' from the bones. It is returned to the bones from calcium supplied through the diet. The average person loses 400 to 500mg of calcium per day.

Vitamins B3 and C - These have been shown to reduce pain and aid with range of motion, muscle strength, and endurance.  Vitamin C may help to reduce cartilage loss and prevent arthritis progression.

Tumeric - Laboratory tests and clinical research indicate that the active ingredients have unique antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

We know you don't want to hear this but we have to put this in here because it works for many of our friends as well as ourselves.  Exercise!  We understand it might be extremely hard for you to do this, but you have many options available if you are serious about eliminating your joint pain.  Below is a list of "some" exercises we do on a weekly basis:

  • walk short distances up hills
  • walk longer distances up, down and on level ground
  • ride a bike around town or a stationary bike
  • using our upper body to peddle a stationary bike
  • run in a swimming pool
  • walk fast in a swimming pool
  • play tennis, golf (walking if possible)
  • anything that will increase your heart rate

Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. This seems to significantly slow the progression of arthritis or joint pain.
